I’ve recently begun collaborating with the wonderful Golden’s Pharmacy and have been very kindly sent some bits from them to try. One of the stand out products they’ve sent so far is the Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Beauty Base.
Created by make up artist Aimee Connolly, the Beauty Base is a moisturiser, primer and SPF product all in one. Hailed as being the perfect product for make up preparation, I decided to put that claim to the test.
Now being a woman of a certain age, the thoughts of not using a separate moisturiser before applying my primer and SPF kind of filled me with horror. To be brutally honest, I wasn’t expecting much hydration. I was wrong. It’s packed full of hyaluronic acid and leaves your skin feeling quite comfortably hydrated after use. It’s especially enough right now while the weather is warmer. But would I be replace my everyday moisturiser with this product? Probably not every day but it definitely exceeded my expectations.
The Beauty Base also contains peptides for plumping and light reflecting pigments that give it that beautiful glowy finish. The SPF30 that’s included gives both UVA and UVB protection which is amazing.
This product can be used on it’s own to give the skin a glowy finish that’s protected from the sun. But it comes into it’s own when it’s used as a base for foundation. I used Beauty Base for the first time live on my Instagram Stories and the response was huge. I actually still have the stories saved to my Highlights over there if you fancy a look.
It did such a great job of evening out the redness in my skin. It made my skin look glowy, healthy and awake!! The best part for me though was when I put my foundation on over it. It just elevated the finish completely. Although I’ve been wearing it under quite a full coverage foundation (my HG Lancome Teint Idole Foundation) the glow still came through on my skin. I do think that this product is probably most suitable for those with a drier skin type because it really does leave the skin with a radiant finish. But if you did feel like toning down the glow a bit, it can also be mixed with either your moisturiser or foundation and applied that way.
All in all my first impressions of the Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Beauty Base are really good. It’s such a handy product to have in your makeup bag as it takes care of all of your skin care needs in one. It retails at €24.95 for 50ml but I do have an ongoing discount code with Goldens Pharmacy that gives you 15% off. The code is LL15 and it is applicable on almost everything on the website.
If you fancy buying the Beauty Base from Goldens Pharmacy, I’ll pop the non affiliate link here.
Thank you so much for reading. Have you tried Beauty Base yet? What are your thoughts so far?
