At the end of May I got the most generous delivery from Pixi Beauty. This is a brand that up until recently I didn’t know to much about. In fact I only started to use their iconic Glow Tonic this year after treating myself to a gift set in the January sales. I’m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to try these products out.
This is an initial review of the products as I have only been using them for a few weeks. So bare this in mind when reading!! I will come back and update once I have used them for a longer period of time.
Pixi Glow-O2 Oxygen Mask
I’m just about to contradict everything I said above straight away by saying I fell in love with this mask from the very first time I used it. You can visibly see the difference it makes to your skin from it’s first use. Pixi suggest using it before a big event or make up application. At first that seemed unusual to me but having used it now, I completely get it. This mask transforms your skin giving you a wonderful glowy blank canvas to work with when applying makeup.
The mask itself bubbles up on the skin after application and feels a little bit tingly but still really comfortable. You only need to leave it on for 3-4 minutes and then wash off. After use your skin feels so clean and noticeably clearer and brighter. This is definitely going to be a re-purchase.
Pixi Glow Mist
Because of the current spell of warm weather I’ve been able to give this a really good try. Pixi describe it as a primer and a make up fixing spray. So far I’ve only used it as a primer and a cooling spray. For both of these uses it has worked a treat. It’s most suited for dry/dehydrated skin which is my skin type and I found it to be really cooling and nourishing.
Pixi Glow Mist contains 13 natural oils and when you apply it it makes your skin feel hydrated while also giving it a subtle little glow. I have to say I found it lovely and cooling too which was very welcome and not too glowy, just right!! As I said Pixi also reckon that it makes a good makeup fixing spray. I’m gonna wait until it cools down a bit before I test that one out.
Pixi Overnight Glow Serum
So my first experience with using Glycolic Acid came in the form of Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Pads which I got into the habit of using quite regularly at one point. They’re a good way of introducing your skin to acids if it’s something you’re a bit nervous of as they only contain 2.8%.
The Overnight Glow Serum is the next level up from those in my opinion, containing 10% Glycolic Acid. The serum helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also claims to help diminish the appearance of age spots with prolonged use.
What I really liked about it is how gentle it feels on my skin. Given that this was my first experience of a higher level of Glycolic Acid, I was afraid it might sting or make my skin feel uncomfortable. That was not the case at all, it was comfortable and the next day my skin felt really clean and bright.
As always let me stress that wearing an SPF on your face is vital the day after using any product containing Glycolic Acid.
Pixi Jasmine Oil Blend
The last product I got to try from Pixi is the Jasmine Oil Blend. This is a beautiful rich facial oil designed to calm and hydrate.
It’s most suited to a dull or dehydrated skin type. The oil helps to perk up the skin and focuses on restoring moisture. It contains Jasmine Flower Oil which is excellent for calming the skin along with Grapeseed and Evening Primrose Oils which help to give the skin an excellent dose of hydration.
You can use this product morning and evening. Put a few drops into the palms of your hands and warm it up. Then gently press it into a freshly cleansed face. You can also pop a few drops into your regular moisturiser to add an extra boost of hydration if you wish.
