Products that help reduce redness in your skin

My skin with no products on and no filters!!

As an Irish woman I, like so many others here have issues with redness in my skin. It’s a common theme. Because of my work as a Beauty Consultant I see customers coming to the counter frequently looking for products to help reduce redness. I have suggestions for both skincare and makeup products that will help so I’m going to break them down individually.

Skincare Products

Firstly, I’m going to talk about a product from SkinCeuticals. The Redness Neutralizer combats Environmental Factors that cause skin irritation and blotchiness. It’s a serum so it can be applied twice a day under your moisturiser or makeup. It’s paraben free, fragrance free, silicone free, dye free, alcohol free and non comedogenic. So it’s safe to say that it’s suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Redness Neutralizer from SkinCeuticals

Having used this serum for a while I have to say it’s really soothing. Although it certainly didn’t eliminate the redness it did improve it. It felt lovely on application, it’s very cooling. Based on it’s texture though I would be recommending it more so for dry skin. I think oily skins would find it too greasy. It certainly is a product I would recommend to help reduce redness. I apply it to my skin after cleansing and before my moisturiser.

Next up is a product that I have written about before.  The Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate. I discovered this product back in 2017 while having a Clarins Aromatic Facial and for somebody with redness in their skin this is a game changer. It is such a great product for reducing redness. It’s instantly calming so it’s excellent on any type of irritated skin. It can be applied as an emergency treatment on skin that has flared up. Alternatively it can be applied every day for 10-12 days as an intensive treatment.

SOS Beauty Repair Concentrate from Clarins

I have mild Rosacea on my cheeks so from time to time my skin can look very angry when it flares up. I find this product excellent during those times. As I’ve said, I’ve written about it before so you can read more here.

Green SOS Primer from Clarins

Another Clarins product I know but this one’s a dinger!! The SOS Primers launched early last year, each one targeting a different skincare concern. The green one specifically targets redness. Now having tried other green primers I wasn’t holding out much hope for this one. Previous ones I’ve tried have concealed the redness in my skin but they’ve left my makeup looking grey and ashy. This one is so good you could actually apply it and not put makeup on over it. When I tried it I made a comparison photo of my skin without it, with just the primer on and with it under my makeup. I did this just to show my followers how dramatic I had found the results. It made such an impact RSVP Magazine online wrote an article about the transformation.

Correct application with this one is key!! Most importantly less is more.  Take a little piece of the primer about the size of a grain of rice and tap it into the area you wish to conceal. Don’t rub it in like you would a cream. Tapping disperses the product evenly and takes the excess green pigment out of the primer. Add more, little by little if needed but remember to be light handed. This product is applied over your moisturiser and under your foundation.

Next up is the BB Concealer from Note Cosmetics. This concealer is like a magic wand. Not only does it conceal redness in the skin, it is by far the best concealer I’ve ever worked with for concealing dark circles under the eyes. Thick enough consistency to conceal without creasing under the eye. When using it on redness in the skin I pop a little on directly from the applicator. Again, a little of this goes a long way. I then bounce it into the skin using a Real Techniques sponge.

The fantastic BB Concealer from Note Cosmetics

It’s such an incredible product I have no idea how it isn’t three times the price. I use it on myself and on make up clients and to be honest the shade 01 is compatible with 90% of us. My advice would be to try it the next time you’re passing a Note Cosmetics stand. It’s less than €15 and honestly you won’t regret it.

So these would be my top picks to help with skin redness. Is this an issue for you? Have you tried any of these products? As always, let me know your thoughts below.
