Gift vouchers for Christmas presents are literally my favourite thing ever. They enable you to head into the endless month of January where you’re broke and browned off and allow you to buy nice things!! And buy something nice I did. Looking around the Beauty Hall in Brown Thomas there was only one collection that stood out to me. That collection is the beautiful Spring/Summer 2018 collection from Chanel.
I’m going to be honest and say I don’t have very many Chanel makeup products. I always feel like it’s out of my reach from a price point of view. Realistically though it isn’t that much more expensive than it’s counterparts and the quality really is exceptional.
The Chanel Spring/Summer collection is inspired by Naples. This is the hometown of Chanel’s Global Creative Make up and Colour Designer Lucia Pica. It is vibrant and eclectic and celebrates colour. Even though I wanted the entire collection I had to narrow it down to one item. Seeing as it’s me that item ended up being a lip product.
I was instantly attracted to the Lip Balm and Powder Duo. Firstly the packaging is exquisite. It comes in a signature black Chanel compact housed in a velvet sleeve. The product itself is really unique. I have used lip powders before and really like the concept of them. In the compact you have the powder on one side and the balm on the other. When it was being demonstrated on me, Bee the Chanel consultant advised that I apply the balm first so that the powder has something to adhere to. Then depending on what kind of finish you’re looking for you can apply the balm again.
To be honest the product is extremely comfortable on the lips whether you choose to wear it glossy or matte. It feels so lightweight and the colour payoff is incredible. The powder comes in three shades, I bought Rosso Pompeiano a stunning coral, red shade. Perhaps surprisingly the colour has excellent lasting power. I also feel like I need to say again how comfortable it is to wear. A bit of a novelty product maybe for some but being a lipstick hoarder this spoke deeply to me. This lip palette is priced at €36.
Special mention as well to the beautiful Multi-Effects Eye shadow Palette that comes in this collection, I really wish I could bring you home to live with me. A stunning collection of shades inspired by the frescoes of Pompeii (just look at that green)
This collection is Limited Edition and is currently available in Brown Thomas nationwide.
