I’ve gone back to the list I compiled after asking on Instagram what blog posts you would like to see. Today’s post is about some of my favourite budget makeup pieces. I know I spend a lot of my time talking about high end makeup so I wanted to balance it out a bit. Although I do love my designer makeup brands there are a number of budget products I wouldn’t be without.
First up is the best budget foundation I have ever used. The E.L.F Cosmetics Flawless Finish foundation is a complete gem. I decided to pick it up because of a viral video Jeffree Star filmed for YouTube back in 2019. Because of it’s popularity, I had to wait a couple of months until the hype died down to be able to get my hands on it as it was sold out everywhere. I finally found it on Boots.ie and with the help of Findation.com I ordered the shade Buff.
Truthfully, I cannot get over this foundation. It is honestly one of the best foundations I have ever tried and it’s only €5.99. I suppose because of the price I wasn’t really expecting much but it blew me away. The coverage is wonderful. Even though it is labelled as an oil free matte foundation it feels really lightweight. My skin is dehydrated and I didn’t find it drying in the least. It has excellent staying power too and dries to a very flattering semi-matte finish. I highly recommend giving this foundation a try.
While on the subject of E.L.F Cosmetics I have to tell you about the incredible Poreless Putty Primer. Gifted to me by the PR company and I’m so glad it was as I might have missed how brilliant it is. Priced at €9 I would say it’s the best budget primer I’ve ever used. In fact it would rival products three times the price.
The Poreless Putty Primer is brilliant for evening out the skin. I found it especially effective on my forehead. In my opinion it visibly plumped the skin in that area. I also feel that it did a great job of blurring pores and basically preparing your skin for makeup.
The primer is infused with Squalane so it helps to grip makeup on to the skin all day long while also making sure there’s no moisture loss. Apply Poreless Putty Primer over your moisturiser before applying foundation. It’s a real gem of a product.
I’m only going to touch on this one briefly because it already has a dedicated post of it’s own. The Essence Cosmetics Liquid Ink Waterproof eye liner is my favourite liquid eye liner without a shadow of a doubt. It’s so incredibly easy to use and no matter what other ones I try, I will always come back to this.
Staying with Essence Cosmetics, one of my favourite budget mascaras is their wonderful Lash Princess mascara. It comes in a few different varieties but my favourites are the green version and the newly released Waterproof version. It’s just a great mascara. Essence Cosmetics are just one of those brands that have a number of cult products and this is one of them.
Incredibly this mascara is under €5!! I find it excellent for adding volume and length to my lashes and once it’s on it doesn’t budge. Especially the Waterproof version, there is zero flaking or smudging but it’s easy to remove once the time comes. It is always the mascara I recommend to anyone who asks for a good quality budget mascara because I’m confident they will love it to. Have you tried it?
So last but not least, lipsticks!! Lipstick is something I know a fair bit about, well to be fair, I own enough of them!! It’s also the one beauty product that I like to invest money in. I love a luxury lipstick, they feel like such a treat.
That being said though, once I love the colour and feel of a lipstick then I’m happy to wear it. One of the best budget brands I’ve tried for lipsticks is Note Cosmetics. My favourites from the brand come from their Rich Colour and Long Wearing ranges. These lipsticks are so creamy and comfortable to wear. The pigment in them is incredible and they last!!
I have a number of different shades in these lipsticks and the quality doesn’t waiver. The nudes are every bit as pigmented and long lasting as the more intense shades. There is also a huge variety of shades across the ranges so I guarantee you there is something for everyone.
For me, Note Cosmetics lipsticks are a budget lipstick that feel a lot more expensive on.
So I hope you enjoyed reading this post. These aren’t the only budget make up products I love but I had to narrow it down. I chose these particular ones for the post because they’re the ones I find myself recommending over and over again over on Instagram.
Come and join me over there if you’re there already. It’s where I have most of my beauty chats.
