Brand Spotlight- Clarins

Clarins, Clarins Skincare, double Serum

Some of my favourites

So you may remember that I was invited to have a gorgeous Clarins Aromatic facial at the start of July, if not you can read all about it here. After that facial I was very kindly gifted some skincare from the Clarins team to try. Now that I’ve had about 8 weeks of using it under my belt I’m going to tell you how I’m getting on.

Now brace yourself, this is a long post as I wanted to give as much detail as I could.

Clarins Multi Active Eye Cream

So just to explain, right after I was given these products my four year old twin daughters went through some kind of horrific sleep regression for about a fortnight and we got ZERO sleep during that time. I think I would have been so lost without this product during that experience!! The applicator is like something made by a wizard, obviously I know it’s made of metal but it stays so cold constantly it feels like it’s only just come out of the freezer so it has a beautiful cooling effect when you apply it. It helped so, so much with the puffiness under my eyes and brightened the area up tremendously. I was so impressed I even managed to get my husband to try it and he felt the exact same as I did. Truthfully if you suffer from puffiness (or toddlers) then you need this eye cream in your life ASAP!!

Clarins Double Serum

Now since I was given this product to try there has been an updated version released so I’ll only speak about it briefly. This version was released in 2013 and has two chambers one containing an oil compound, the other a water. When using the pump it releases an amount of both simultaneously and you just mix them together in the palm of your hand before you apply. Clarins claim that this serum improves hydration and cell regeneration, making pores less visible, evens out skin tone and reduces the appearance of fine lines….Huge claims indeed!! What I can tell you from using this product is that it makes your skin feel absolutely beautiful. Even though it contains oil it doesn’t make your skin any oilier, only softer. I finding that my make up is going on a lot smoother and I feel like my skin is brighter and fresher looking.

As I say there has since been a newer version released in recent weeks with the addition of Tumeric, a renowned anti aging ingredient. Personally I can’t imagine how they could possibly make this serum any better but I’m excited to find out. Double Serum is an expensive product but having had the chance to use it now, I would definitely be interested in trying the new one in the future.

Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil

Oh my goodness me this product. I need to take a deep breath and make sure that I adequately explain how beautiful it is. I have combination skin that’s also dehydrated so I couldn’t have been gifted a more suitable product for my skin type. This oil is a targeted treatment for dehydrated skin that helps to restore lost moisture by using the principles of aromatherapy. It is made from 100% pure plant extracts including Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid. I wish I could transfer the smell of this product through the Internet and into your nose because it is absolutely dreamy, honestly give it a sniff the next time you’re passing a Clarins counter!! Even though this is an oil based product again I didn’t find it too oily for my skin at all and the bonus is you don’t have to use very much of it to get the desired effect. A definite permanent fixture in my skincare regime now going forward.

Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate

So just to clarify my initial facial back in July was an Aromatic Facial, so what that means is it’s a bit of an introduction to Clarins skincare and a chance to try some of their products on your skin. Because I had never met Sarah (the amazing therapist) before that day she wouldn’t have known about my skin concerns until we had started the treatment.

We did a lot of chatting that day, being a Beauty Therapist myself and an ex retail worker within the Beauty Industry, we had a lot in common. I felt so comfortable with her and easily opened up to her when going through what I perceived to be the weak points of my skin. For me my biggest concern has always been the areas of Rosacea around my nose and cheek area. For years I would never leave the house without make up on because I was so embarrassed of the redness in my skin.

When I had the girls though that changed greatly and I had a massive reality check which involved me copping on and leaving the house with no make up on, LOTS OF TIMES!! No matter what skincare brand I’ve used or facial I’ve had in the past I’ve always brought this issue up and I’ve always been told they have the solution for me. Unfortunately that’s never been the case. On the day of the facial Sarah didn’t have this Repair Concentrate in the room with her so she gave me a wee sample pot to take home with me to see how I got on with it. For the first time ever I noticed a visible difference in my skin. It DID NOT eliminate the redness completely but I was so blown away by the difference it did make that I went ahead and bought it. What I will say though is that it is an investment. It’s €56.00 for 15mls which might seem extortionate but it is a very fluid product so you only have to use a really small amount to cover a large area. It is also a treatment product so it really only needs to be used when the skin is flaring up.

I chose to buy it at a time when Debenhams were having a Gift With Purchase as I was excited to try some more products and I’m an absolute sucker for a GWP!! I’m so aware of what an expensive product this is so I would never recommend it lightly but if like me you have redness issues in your skin and you feel like you’ve tried everything then why not pop to your local Clarins counter and ask for a little sample to see if it works for your skin.

Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel

This was the second item I purchased in order to avail of the GWP in Debenhams. I honestly was clueless as to what to get but when I saw the name of this cleanser I knew it was right up my alley!! I couldn’t have been more right, this has sky rocketed to the top of my favourite cleansers list, it is STUNNING!! It starts off as a gel but changes to an oil when you rub it in to the skin. Massage it all over the face, I’ve even been able to successfully use it on my eyes and when you add water to it it changes to a milk. What I like to do with it is to run a cleansing cloth under warm water and place it over my face at this point and honestly its like a spa treatment.

Again this product smells absolutely beautiful and your skin feels squeaky clean after it. The only thing I would say is that I have had to use a separate eye makeup remover with it because it didn’t fully remove it on it’s own. That’s not a big deal for me though as generally I wear a lot of eye makeup including waterproof eyeliner and I love a Double Cleanse!! I will be 100% re-purchasing this cleanser, it is beautiful.

You need this cleanser in your life ASAP!!

So that was my round up of how I’ve been finding my skin since I changed to Clarins skincare. Like everything else I suppose skincare is subjective and the things I love may not be your cup of tea but I’d urge you always to ask for samples if you’re trying new skincare as we all work hard for our money, we want to make sure we’re investing it well. Right now though I have to say that I am the happiest that I’ve been with my skin in a while thanks to Clarins and I can’t wait to keep on discovering new gems to add to my collection.

I think I've made it fairly clear in the post as to which products I've bought myself and which products were gifted to me. Either way my opinions are my own.
